Pizzeria Gusto is Oklahoma City’s first Neapolitan pizza restaurant. I was pretty excited when I found out….and I’m not sure how long they’ve been open, but I may be pretty late in discovering this! You see, I’m kind of a pizza snob, well pizza connoisseur. Yeah, that sounds better.
Their Stefano Ferarra oven was hand-built in Naples. They import their tomatoes, flour and other fine ingredients from Italy. I’m craving another pizza again! In addition to amazing pizzas, they feature shareable small plates, appetizers, salads and desserts….made from scratch. Are you hungry yet?
Since Inner Circle is for people to get together to expand their social circle and try local hot spots, we felt that Pizzeria Gusto would be a good place to host an event. The ambiance was great for our girl’s night out. They have these elegant chandeliers, beautiful long communal tables, yet it’s casual and modern. We were able to get to know each other in a relaxed and fun atmosphere.
I ordered the pepperoni pizza. I know, so basic. Or as Inner Circle member Jenn described it, retro. I was so busy chatting it up and getting to know everyone that I didn’t have time to look at the menu. Our server Ezra was so sweet and came back a few times. He even explained their new drink menu and suggested some delicious cocktails. I ordered the grapefruit mezcal drink and it was very refreshing….and by the way, the pizza was delicious!
You’ll probably judge me for this, but I would drive down to a place in Dallas to get my brick oven pizza because that is the closest place that did this style of pizza right. I don’t mess around when it comes to pizza. The crust is crispy, flat, but flexible. The taste the oven gives it, the char on the edges, the fresh toppings, yummmm. That is exactly what I got at Pizzeria Gusto. I can now save myself the drive and get myself a few extra pizzas. It was love at first bite!
If you haven’t been, It’s located in the historic Uptown district near 23rd Street and Walker Avenue. It’s between The Drake and The Pump. The parking seemed to be the only downside. I’m not sure how parking is during the week or non-peak hours, but If you go on a weekend or when it’s busy in the area I suggest you take an Uber or show up early to find parking.
It was a successful event for Inner Circle at Pizzeria Gusto. Many women from diverse backgrounds were able to meet and bond over yummy cocktails and amazing pizza. We will definitely be back!
